Solar Pathfinder

The Solar Pathfinder ™ is the most advanced equipment available to predict the output of a solar energy installation in a given location.

The Solar Pathfinder

The Solar Pathfinder Equipment

The Pathfinder creates a 360-degree panoramic reflection of the site. The panoramic reflection is projected onto a Sun Path diagram to reveal the site’s solar potential for the whole year.

Sun Path diagrams are specific to a certain latitude. They are available for all parts of both northern and southern hemispheres.

The Solar Pathfinder™ can be used anytime of the day, anytime of the year, and in either cloudy or sunny weather.

The Pathfinder has an integral spirit level and magnetic compass, making it quick and easy to set up. The unit and diagrams are engineered to adjust for magnetic declination to face "true south" (for the Northern hemisphere), not "magnetic south".

The Solar Assistant Software

The Solar Assistant Software

The Solar Assistant software generates sun paths for each month of the year, for the specific latitude of the site. It calculates :

  • The percentage of sunlight available, that is not lost to shade
  • The solar radiation reaching the site, in kilowatt hours per square meter per day
  • The amount of AC power that can be generated, in kiloWatt hours

The software can produce ”What If“ calculations, showing the effects of change, such as removing branches or trees that create shade. It can produce site average results from surveys done at different points, such as the four corners of a square.

The package integrates weather data for North America, Europe, Central America and the South West Pacific. This is used in the calculation of the solar energy available.
